Historic 9 Orchard Structure: Bank to Hotel

New York, NY
9 Orchard Transformation

Mancini supported DLJ Real Estate in the repositioning of the historic 9 Orchard structure in Downtown Manhattan. The building has been transformed from a former bank into a boutique hotel and food and beverage venue while honoring its historic function and character.

Historic 9 Orchard Structure Redesign

Mancini recently provided architect of record services for the renovation of this 14‑story, 65,000‑square‑foot landmarked building. The building was completely renovated into a boutique hotel with approximately 116 keys. Mancini coordinated a full design team including the client’s internal architect and designer, a kitchen and amenity space designer, a base building architectural designer, and a full team of engineers and consultants. The project included full mechanical system updates that also provided resilient operations in the face of contingencies, like the neighborhood power outages that accompanies Superstorm Sandy in 2012. Challenges in this upgrade included the very compact floor plates while creating physical continuity.
