The Webster, a luxury retailer originally based in South Beach, Florida, engaged our firm to design a preservation-minded headquarters in the SoHo neighborhood of Manhattan.

The project included the design and construction of the retail environment, as well as the historical reconstruction and modern expansion of the landmarked building. Working directly with the Landmarks Preservation Commission, we carefully reconstructed the cast-iron details of the upper three stories (which had burned in a fire), restored the two remaining stories, and added a modern penthouse, set back to be hidden at street level. The first four floors are devoted to men’s and woman’s fashion, the fifth serves as a hair salon, and the penthouse houses a VIP suite and terrace. The store features The Webster’s signature terrazzo floors, polished brass fixtures, artist installations and carefully curated furnishings and retail fixtures. The retail environment was designed in collaboration with Chris Osvai.
