Sampled
Sampled Expansion:
Infinity Biologix, a spinoff of Rutgers University-New Brunswick, acquired U.K.-based biomaterial specialists Roylance Pharma in September 2021. The joint organization then rebranded as Sampled in April.
They are expanding its SMART Labs facility in Piscataway into a state-of-the-art, 140,000-square-foot laboratory and biorepository that will be one of the largest of its kind in the world. The multimillion-dollar expansion will increase the company’s global biorepository capabilities and enable it to store, manage, analyze, research and transport up to 20 million biological samples. The expanded lab capabilities will also allow for faster and easier research and health product launches. A company representative told NJBIZ that Sampled is not disclosing the exact cost of the project.
Construction is expected to be completed by early 2023. “We are thrilled that Sampled SMART Labs is expanding its industry and deepening its investment in Piscataway,” city Mayor Brian Wahler, who recently toured the facility, said in a statement. “With our proximity to world-class health care facilities and dynamic medical education at Rutgers University, this new growth in local business is a win for everyone, especially with the availability of more good paying jobs for hard-working residents.” Sampled, which has labs across the U.S. and Europe as well as partner labs in the Netherlands, China and Australia, currently employs about 350 people in New Jersey and also expects double-digit revenue growth in 2023, a representative told NJBIZ.
