HANC Education Center

West Hempstead, NY

We are working with the Hebrew Academy of Nassau County (HANC) to design the phased demolition and new construction of their education center at 240 Hempstead Avenue. The school recently acquired adjacent properties and is looking to create a new, state-of-the-art facility that will also double as community space.

HANC Education Center Design

The new site bounds create a “Y-shaped” site and stretches from a county road to a local road. Mancini developed a schematic design package that is currently undergoing the approvals process with the relevant authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs). The newly design facility will incorporate the existing K–8 school on the site as well as the Early Childhood Center down the road at 609 Hempstead Avenue which the school is selling. The new design does re‑use the existing gym but otherwise will be an entirely new facility, inclusive of site improvements. The school will ultimately house nearly 1,000 students and span typical classrooms to science labs to shared spaces like a cafeteria and exterior courtyard.
