HANC Early Childhood Center

West Hempstead, NY

We worked with the Hebrew Academy of Nassau County (HANC) to evaluate the existing Early Childhood Center building. Our study included a complete existing conditions survey and exploration of design opportunities to determine its long‑term viability.

The facility, located at 609 Hempstead Avenue in West Hempstead, was originally constructed in the 1950s or 1960s and totals approximately 34,000 square feet across two floors. Since its construction, the building had only received minor upgrades as required.

Our initial study included evaluation of the MEP and Structural systems by respective engineers in addition to architectural evaluation. We then began exploring the design opportunities for the building to present the school with options for renovations to modernize the building. Our evaluation included system upgrades, facade and other exterior renovations, as well as interior renovations to upgrade certain classrooms and shared spaces. Ultimately, based on Mancini’s evaluation and recommendations, the school decided to sell the property and use the funds toward a brand new education center as part of their long‑term real estate plans.
