New Jersey’s Galaxy Towers

Guttenberg, New Jersey

Given the scope of the project—which encompassed the rehabilitation of common hallways, elevator galleries, garage hallways, and trash compactor rooms of 125 floors in five buildings—this was one of the largest projects of its kind in the Northeast United States since the complex was originally completed in 1976. Galaxy Towers is home to a majority of Guttenberg, New Jersey’s 11,176 citizens. In 2015, our firm was asked to provide services towards the renovation of the Towers’ common areas.

Galaxy Towers Redesign

In the initial stages of the project, we worked closely with a design committee of residents and other interested parties assembled by the condominium’s board of directors. Starting with a large number of finish samples, we worked together in an iterative process to progressively narrow down—and further elaborate—available options until we arrived at two final, fully-articulated design schemes. These schemes were then presented to Galaxy Towers’ residents, who were surveyed about their preferences; taking the results into consideration, the final selection was made by the design board.

The selected scheme, characterized by silver and gray colors, gives the common areas a modern touch that works well with an existing palette of finishes not under renovation, and will appeal to condo buyers both now and in the future.

As part of our services, the firm also developed a complete signage package.
