Drinker Biddle’s Uptown Manhattan Office

New York, NY
Drinker Biddle Plan and Relocation

In our first project for Drinker Biddle & Reath (now Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath), we relocated the firm from 140 Broadway in lower Manhattan to 16,000 rentable square feet on the 41st floor of 1177 Avenue of the Americas.

The midtown location was chosen so that the prestigious law firm, which was founded in Philadelphia in 1849, could better serve its clients while continuing to attract top-tier legal talent.

We answered their needs for the new space by retaining as much of the existing build-out as possible on the perimeter and focusing on the interior, where our plan maximized the number of attorney offices available, allowing our client room for its projected growth. We placed our design emphasis on client-facing areas, creating a more open entry and reception space that takes advantage of the great views of midtown Manhattan.

Drinker Biddle Design

Overall, our design blends traditional architectural embellishments with more contemporary furniture, while integrating cutting-edge IT and conferencing systems to serve the needs of this technology-savvy firm.

Using the design and detailing of the 41st floor as our template, we subsequently expanded their offices onto the 38th and 37th floors of the building over the course of three phases, bringing the total project size to 48,000 square feet.
