I’d love to learn more about mass timber construction and I’d love the opportunity to work on a mass timber project.

What do you hope to see in the future in the world of architecture and design?
I hope to see more equitable access to high-level design in our public and private spaces.
When did you know you wanted to be an architect/designer?
When we no longer need to *actively* specify green or sustainable materials. I.e., when all materials are healthy with no concerns about their chemical makeup.
When did you know you wanted to be an architect/designer?
I don’t have an exact moment, but I have a very strong memory of being in 3rd grade and reading a story in class about Michael Graves’s Portland Building and something must have clicked.
What’s something you love to collect?
I wouldn’t use the word collect, but I have been asked to put a pause on buying more architecture books.
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
From my Dad, when I was leaving for college – “be a decent person.” The language was more colorful, but that was the gist, and I’d like to think it’s served me well.
What is your favorite hobby?
Whenever I travel, I make a point to go running; it’s an amazing way to experience a city.
Who inspires you the most in your field?
I believe that building anything, even seemingly simple things, particularly in New York City, is such an unbelievable challenge that anyone who can consistently deliver thoughtful, beautiful, and considered spaces in a professional manner is an inspiration.
Do you have any hidden talents?
I’m not sure if it’s a talent, but I enjoy making toys for my 3-year-old daughter. We just finished a paper rocket ship and a wooden hippopotamus.
Any other interesting fact about you?
I love movies, and I really love the production around them, including concept art, production design, and special effects. There was time when I wanted to do special effects as a career.
