Where were you born?

West Islip (Long Island), NY

Where is your favorite travel destination?

I try not to repeat travel destinations and always go somewhere new, but Italy is always a favorite (I can never have enough pasta and pizza), or Montauk, NY if I’m looking to stay more local.

What’s something you’d still love to learn?

Sign language and to play violin

Describe Mancini’s company culture in one word?

Welcoming

What do you hope to see in the future in the world of architecture and design?

I hope to see more built projects using bio-materials. Specifically, I want to see how architecture can be treated as a more cyclical practice that can help ecologies sustain and grow!

When did you know you wanted to be an architect/designer?

When we no longer need to *actively* specify green or sustainable materials. I.e., when all materials are healthy with no concerns about their chemical makeup.

When did you know you wanted to be an architect/designer?

I’ve always loved building things, first with Legos and then with the computer game The Sims. I wasn’t aware that interior design was its own profession until I was in high school and looking through the big book of college majors. Once I learned the difference between a designer and a decorator, I was convinced of the endless possibilities that interior design could offer.

What’s something you love to collect?

I’d say I’m the opposite of a collector! I try to live pretty minimally. I keep birthday and anniversary cards from my husband. I also like to get Christmas ornaments for different occasions (i.e., baby’s first Christmas, first year in a new house, a vacation memory, etc.).

What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

Every mistake is a lesson learned and a chance to improve.

What is your favorite hobby?

Relaxing at the beach and cycling (Peloton!).

Who inspires you the most in your field?

Frank Lloyd Wright – I love his ability to seamlessly blend architecture with nature.

Do you have any hidden talents?

I have a black belt in karate.

Any other interesting fact about you?

I have two French Bulldogs, named Chandler and Joey (yes, like from Friends!).
