When did you first know you wanted to be a designer?

I believe architectural design should be open to everyone, and that the industry’s current workflow can advance by inviting the client into the design process. This motivated me to become a licensed architect, because as the saying goes, “learn the rules like a pro, so you can break them like an artist.”

Do you have any hidden talents?

I can identify every car and model on the street. I’ve loved cars and most things with engines since I was a child. In fact, I started to learn English so I could identify cars.

What would Spotify say is your most-played track?

“Heart” by Stars. My top 20 most-played tracks are either by Stars, Arcade Fire, or the Weakerthans. Apparently, I have a soft spot for Canadian indie rock.

Where is your favorite travel destination?

Hualien. This coastal city in the Southeast Pacific is the place where I grew up but have not lived in for 15 years. It’s always a different experience to go back to my childhood hometown versus any other travel destination.

Where would we find you on the weekend?

The track at Astoria Park. I’m training to beat my personal best when the world is back to normal.

What’s one accomplishment you’re most proud of?

Marrying my wife. This is probably the most clichéd but also the most confident answer I can provide.
