LaGuardia Hangar 5 GSE Shop

Queens, NY
GSE Shop Project

As part of our ongoing and multifaceted commitment to Laguardia Airport, we recently acted as architect of record for the Ground Service Equipment (“GSE”) workshop renovation at Hangar 5.

The 22,000-sf project created 11 new workbays, a welding bay, parts storage, crew chief offices, a breakroom, and shower facilities for staff. Included among the new workbays are two four-post lifts and one two-post lift. The massive existing hangar door was welded shut and modified to accommodate new man doors and roll-down doors for vehicular entry and exit.

This project required intensive coordination with the contractor and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey in order to maintain a very aggressive schedule. The GSE shop needed to be up and running in order to keep American Airlines’ operations functioning during the ongoing phased construction of Terminal B. Mancini facilitated the inspections processes on a rolling cadence to provide the most efficient path towards project completion.
