Avon Foundation Breast Imaging Center

New York, NY

The new 3,200-sf Avon Foundation Breast Imaging Center is the result of a collaborative effort between Columbia University Health Sciences Division, NewYork-Presbyterian, and Avon. Confronted with a restricted floor area, our firm organized efficient flow and circulation patterns for the 18,000 women who will visit the facility each year.

The primary design goal was to provide a more calming atmosphere than is typical of breast screening facilities. To achieve this, softened edges, curvilinear forms, indirect lighting, patterned glass, luxurious fabrics, and warm materials, such as wood panels and ceilings, were utilized.
