What’s the best thing about working in this industry?
I like that the industry as a whole is a creative one, but also a technical one. Oftentimes it can be chaotic when you try to be creative, practical, and timely but we work as a team to fix it together which is something I cherish.
What kind of projects do you want to work on (or technology you want to use) in the future?
It may be way out there but, I would love to work on a city in the metaverse. I also think it would be cool to work on exhibitions, museums, and stadiums!
What do you hope to see in the future in the world of architecture and design?
I hope that the entire building industry, clients included, will be more willing to pursue passive design and sustainability efforts in their projects.
When did you know you wanted to be an architect/designer?
During high school in the Philippines, I was always in charge of production for our school plays. I truly enjoyed those moments where I can just create and plan props and backdrops so my class can have an awesome set while they perform. The best moment for me was when everything came together and I got to see how my work enhanced the show and my classmates’ performance. It was then I knew that I wanted to continue being creative in my future career.
What is your favorite hobby?
I love going to the many theatres we have in New York City, big or small, and watching performers express themselves on stage. I try to go at least once a week!
