Roger Heady, AIAAssociate
What’s the biggest highlight of your career?
I received my architecture license as soon as New York State would allow. I passed all my exams almost a year prior to having my experience hours done.
Do you have any hidden talents?
I’m a retired professional gamer. I made about $15,000 during high school, and that helped pay for college.
What would Spotify say is your most-played track?
“Killer Whales” by Smallpools.
Best advice you’ve ever received?
Architecture is a slow business and successful projects take years to shape, so don’t let the day-to-day grind obscure the bigger picture and impact.
What was your first computer—and what did you spend the most amount of time doing on it?
A Gateway desktop running Windows 95. I played Bubble Bobble with my dad in the garage for hours.
What’s the technology this firm uses (and you’re involved with) that most consistently surprises and impresses clients?
Virtual reality. They love that it allows them to inhabit renderings, not just look at them.
