Woodhull ED Expansion
Woodhull Medical Center, a 364-bed community-based teaching hospital, has completed the phase 1 expansion and renovation project of the existing Emergency Department (ED) to provide a much needed physical space enlargement so that it may keep pace with growing patient volumes that are treated and/or admitted through the emergency department. The Expansion of the existing acute ED was made possible by repurposing 5,000 available/adjacent square feet of space into additional treatment areas. Expansion of the ED will improve throughput, reduce the number of patients who leave without beings seen, and decant an already overcrowded ED.
Through the use of sustainable, colorful lighter finishes as well as strategically placed lighting, Mancini Duffy designed a space that feels naturally open with improved patient observation site lines.
A glass enclosed centralized equipment storage room provides clear 360-degree vision through the space and provides for easy staff access.
