Mancini Acquires Gertler & Wente Architects, Expanding the Firm’s Opportunities in New Market Sectors

National design firm Mancini Duffy – with a 100+-year-old history and tech-forward approach based in New York City – announces the acquisition of Gertler & Wente Architects to further expand its footprint in the healthcare, multi-family residential, restoration, institutional, and religious sectors. This acquisition is part of Mancini’s business goals of continuous and exponential growth in 2022 and beyond.

“For the past decade, part of our long-term growth plan has been to expand and diversify into new market sectors like hospitality, aviation, media, and industrial. There’s great synergy between Mancini and Gertler & Wente Architects, and we see a great opportunity to develop and grow together as a united team,” explains Mancini’s President & Co-owner Christian Giordano. “Gertler & Wente excels at highly designed architecture, and they bring a discipline to their design process that will enhance what we’re doing at Mancini.”

Established in 1985, Gertler & Wente Architects is a design-oriented firm that focuses on creative design solutions to meet clients’ needs and aspirations. The firm has worked on projects for brands like LVMH, Oracle Corporation, Trinity Church, New York University, Columbia University, NYU Langone Health, Mount Sinai Health System, and New York-Presbyterian Hospital.

“We want our staff to be in a family environment and become part of a larger organization that shares our values. This is a great opportunity for our team to work on larger projects in a healthy, synergistic firm,” said Gertler & Wente Partner Jeffrey Gertler. “I am excited to multiply our knowledge base to collectively fuel growth in the future.”

“We share a similar philosophy with Jeff and Larry about how to run a family-oriented firm. Collectively we value work/life balance,” said Mancini’s CEO & Co-owner William Mandara Jr., AIA.

“The idea of joining forces with a larger, diverse firm like Mancini allows us to pursue larger, more architectural projects,” said Gertler & Wente Partner Larry Wente, AIA LEED AP.

“As we emerge from the pandemic, we are recovering and growing with our eyes set on an expansion at Mancini. This acquisition is a positive outlook for both companies because we’ve prioritized our people, projects, and practice,” remarked Mancini’s CFO & Co-owner Bolanle Williams-Olley.

In May, Mancini moves into its new New York City headquarters at 520 Eighth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. With a post-COVID world in mind, Mancini has reimagined the office experience. The firm created a forward-thinking space centered around design and technology with a fully agile workflow and various seating and workplace types for its team. In addition, the firm’s innovative Design Lab and immersive VR will triple in size from its previous office, focusing on newer technologies.
